Better than FTP

As things stand today, Drupal.org's mirror network is an essential part of the Drupal.org infrastructure. The ftp.drupal.org infrastructure hosts millions of files, serving everything from Drupal Core to contributed modules and themes, but it's beginning to show its age.

Why we moved Drupal.org to a CDN

As of a little after 19:00 UTC on 2 July 2014, Drupal.org is now delivering as many sites as possible via our EdgeCast CDN.

Why a CDN?

A content delivery network or content distribution network (CDN) is a large distributed system of servers deployed in multiple data centers across the Internet.[1]

Unplanned Drupal.org Downtime Earlier Today (Thu Feb 13 14:59-15:21 UTC 2014)

The Drupal.org primary database server experienced a crash due to a full disk earlier today around 6:59am PST (14:59 UTC).

The Future of Drupal.org Development

Hi everyone, if you don't know me I am Rudy Grigar (basic` on Freenode IRC). I have been a volunteer Drupal.org infrastructure maintainer since 2009. This month I started full time at the Drupal Association managing the Drupal.org infrastructure, which I am extremely excited about -- volunteer work has become my day job!

One of my first projects is to improve the development process for people interested in contributing to Drupal.org.
