Overview

The Drupal Association seeks a highly-motivated and fastidious team player to help build and support the home of one of the most dynamic open source projects on the planet. The Developer will support Drupal contributors by enhancing and creating the tools that developers use and help grow the Drupal project by developing and updating functionality that attracts new end users to Drupal. The Drupal.org Developer will work with a smart and talented team of volunteers and staff to achieve these goals.

The Drupal Association serves our diverse Drupal Community - including coders, site builders, content editors, business people, themers, and more. Through webinars, conferences, grants, trainings and more, we reach thousands of people a year in our quest to support and grow the Drupal Project.

In a nutshell, the Drupal.org Developer has the unique opportunity to contribute to the growth of the Drupal Community by helping us create a Drupal.org that attracts and serves the world’s best developers, themers, site owners, and potential users.

The Job

  • Develop detailed specification documents for Drupal.org improvements
  • With Project Manager, provide input on detailed project plans for Drupal.org improvments, including expertise required, total number of people required, total number of development hours required
  • Coding, theming and development for Drupal.org and related sub sites per project plans
  • Test and debug customizations and new features before they are implemented
  • With DevOps, determine appropriate architecture, and other technical solutions
  • Identify, investigate and resolve bugs and issues identified by the community
  • Participate in Drupal.org issue queues - even ones that don't directly relate to your projects

Qualifications

  • 2+ years experience developing in a PHP framework, including procedural and OOP development techniques
  • Deep familiarity with HTML5, CSS, MySQL, and Javascript, including ability to hand-code markup, as well as a version control system
  • Drupal, Git, and Jenkins experience a plus
  • Experience with Unix/Linux server maintenance is a plus
  • Writing low maintenance, high reliability code to be used in a 24/7 environment
  • A strong sense of ownership and responsibility for code quality
  • A strong passion for learning and adapting to new technologies
  • Ability to multi-task and work under pressure
  • Must be an outstanding communicator and be comfortable interacting with a diverse group of technical and non-technical people including senior executives, sales, marketing, development, operations, customers and business partners.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a matrix organization and to lead and participate effectively on cross-functional teams.
