If there is one defining attribute of the Drupal community, it is the desire to give. There are countless examples of community members giving time, resources and expertise to help others both inside and outside the community.

It is in that spirit that we are announcing a new type of membership in time for the holidays: the Gift Membership. With the Gift Membership, anyone can give a Drupal Association membership to anyone else. You can do this here (login is required).

When you give a gift membership to someone, he or she will enjoy the benefits of membership for a full year beginning January 1, 2014. In reality, it is a gift to the entire community: membership dues help pay for many community programs and the hosting, maintenance and upgrades for Drupal.org.

Eventually, we may make the Gift Membership permanent depending on demand. For now, it will be a limited program that will run until January 9th, 2014.
