Twitter logoWitnessing the overwhelming buzz around DrupalCons in Prague and Portland, few would question the benefits of social media for DrupalCon and the wider Drupal project. Combining YouTube, Twitter, Facebook and Flickr and using session recordings and community content, we are able to project the essence of DrupalCon far beyond the four walls of the conference centre.

Social media is the pulse which contributes to the promotion, successful organisation and smooth running of each DrupalCon. To reflect its growing influence we have reviewed our social media strategy, particularly relating to Twitter.

We are pleased to announce the creation two new Twitter accounts; @DrupalConEur and @DrupalConNA associated with DrupalCon Europe and North America respectively. Segmenting our audience allows us to reflect the nuances between the DrupalCons, better promote conferences concurrently and further in advance, and have a dialog with audiences about each conference without causing confusion. Additionally, those interested in one conference can follow a single account and receive just relevant information.

Rest assured the faithful @DrupalCon account will remain, reserved for significant announcements and as a channel for introducing new audiences the event.

So, please go follow @DrupalConEur and @DrupalConNA and stay updated with the forthcoming DrupalCons in Austin and Amsterdam 2014.
