Donna Benjamin with Senator Kate LundyA big welcome goes out to Sameer Verma (sameer.verma) as a new Drupal Association Board member and to Donna Benjamin (KatteKrab), who has made the leap from the first at-large community Board member elected in January, 2012, to a continuing seat on the Board. Both of their terms will expire in 2015.  

Donna jumped right into her one-year position bringing the community’s voice to the Board. She managed the second election process of new community Board members in September 2012, and played an integral role in the planning of DrupalCon Sydney. Donna is a passionate advocate of Free and Open Source Software (FOSS) solutions for small business and education. She deserves a huge congratulations in winning The Rusty Wrench Award at recently for service to the Australian Open Source community. She is the Executive Director of Creative Contingencies, an Australian based company specialising in customised web services, research, project facilitation and event management.

Sameer VermaAs an active Drupal supporter and user, Sameer, is Professor of Information Systems at San Francisco State University (SFSU), in San Francisco, California. He has been using Drupal since 2004, and now uses it in his undergraduate, graduate and executive courses, and is quite pleased SFSU now runs on Drupal. He has a Ph.D in Business Administration from Georgia State University. His research focuses on the diffusion and adoption of innovative technologies. He is the founder and organizer of The Commons Initiative at SFSU, an initiative that aims to bring about awareness and collaboration around commons projects both on and off campus. Sameer started One Laptop per Child (OLPC) volunteer efforts in San Francisco, Jamaica, Armenia, Tuva and India. He is the founder and chief organizer of the OLPC San Francisco.
