I've worked as a member of the middle management of a private secondary educational institution in the Philippines. As the coordinator of the Special Subjects department in which Computer Education was a part of, I convinced my colleagues to ratify a specialized, developmentally appropriate curricular ladder for junior to senior high school students that would allow them to effectively learn programming languages, scripting, web development and design, with the purpose to build enthusiasm and passion for creating for the web rather just consuming -- all before college.
What perspective will you bring to the board when discussing strategic topics?:
I could provide perspective on promoting Drupal Education for young enthusiasts (Grades 7 to 12), and beyond. Also, since I currently work in a financial institution where I still promulgate Drupal through content management projects, I would bring in the security perspective that is the single, most important concern of enterprises when it comes to open-source technologies.
What existing board topics are you most passionate about? and why?:
Of the strategic topics outlined in the Board Role Definition, I find Strengthening the Sustainability of Drupal the most exciting. I sincerely believe that sustainability is about the longevity and continuous growth of this amazing community, that could very well depend on the rate of which we, the current generation of Drupalers, would be able to bring more people to the community.
What additional strategic topics would you like to introduce?:
Bringing Drupal to the Classroom, and Strengthening Drupal Security with Advanced Technologies
What unique skills would you bring to the board?:
I could design a Drupal curriculum for learners of all ages.
How have your past contributions to Drupal prepared you for board candidacy?:
I often contribute by pointing out security and stability issues to modules and core.
Why should we vote for you?:
Because I represent the interest of the entire community, and of the number of young enthusiasts I hope to bring in, and that is for Drupal to stay bustling with great ideas and amazing projects for as long as possible.
