We are pleased to tell you that the Drupal Association’s Board of Directors announced today that it has appointed Holly Ross as the new Executive Director to lead the Association into it’s next phase of growth. Holly will assume her role starting February 1, 2013.

Holly joins the DA after 10 years at NTEN, the Nonprofit Technology Network, which works to help nonprofits use technology to create the change they want to see in the world. NTEN has a similar structure to the DA with a strong community of technologies, which she helped grow from just a handful of individuals to over 60,000 people. NTEN also holds an annual conference, and pulls together resources to support the technology needs of nonprofits around the country.

Holly shared her excitement with the Drupal Association Board of Directors about her new role, saying, “I am thrilled to be making this move, which allows me to capitalize on my experience building community and embrace the added challenge of helping this international community collaborate on the Drupal project. I can’t wait to get started and be a part of a group of colleagues who share the values and passion for technology that I do.”

NTEN has also been using Drupal for the last six years, so she is no stranger to our community. We’re excited to bring her experience, talents, and skills to the DA to help us accelerate our growth and the support of the Drupal community as a whole.

All of us at the DA appreciate the support you have provided during our first phase of growth and look forward to continuing to collaborate with you on the next phase of the Association. Holly is looking forward to connecting with our community, so please feel free to reach out to her with your feedback and ideas at holly@association.drupal.org. We are very excited about the opportunities and changes that are coming!

While she's leaving big shoes to fill at NTEN, Holly is absolutely incredible and I'm stoked to see her hop over to this site of the Drupal fence!

Echoing Sean's comment, Holly has been stellar as a leader at NTEN.  I've often thought there are similarities in the trajectory of development of of the nonprofit technology support community -- from pre-NTEN days to now -- and that of the Drupal community.  Having been a member of both communities, I'm happy to see that Holly will be lending her wisdom and expertise to the Drupal Association.

"lending her wisdom"?  I mean "bringing"!

I know this has been in the works for a long time, and that a lot of thought and hard work was put into selecting Holly. Congrats to the DA and much thanks to Jacob and Megan!!!

I would argue that NTEN was much bigger than a "handful" when Holly first joined the staff - we numbered at least in the hundreds if not a thousand in the extended circuit rider network back then. We have all been very lucky to have Holly's leadership, brains, charm, and energy working to advance the cause of helping nonprofits use technology more effectively. She definitely took it to a new level.

As a professional Drupal super user myself, I couldn't be happier to see her take the helm of the DA. I expect it will help the whole organization become much better at interfacing with members and the public. I also hope this will provide an opening for those of us that are dedicated to Drupal but are not primarily developers to particpate more fully in the community.

Kudo to the Drupal Association for making this great move!

Congratulations Holly!  I can't wait to work with you in one way or another.  I'm excited to see a member of the non-profit tech community WITH Drupal experience join the DA.  This is awesome.
